Abstract
Buoyant surface jets can be found, for example, in the discharge of heated water from cooling systems of factories and thermal or nuclear power plants. From an engineering point of view, the trajectory of the jet, as well as the temperature or concentration fields, are usually the most relevant aspects. In this paper, experimental results are analysed, leading to the proposal of semi-empirical solutions for the case of a jet in a crossflow.
