Abstract

The present study reports on a new type of entrainment enhancement method. In this case, delta wings, like vortex generators, have been mounted in the periphery of an axisymmetric nozzle, near the exit plane. Thus, streamwise vortices are being generated in the periphery of the jet, The paper reports on an experimental investigation of the effect of this embedded streamwise vorticity on the near field entrainment characteristics of a round jet, for several angles of attack and ReD between 5.8 × 104.
