Abstract

The remarks contained in the present paper are connected with the second of the two main problems proposed for discussion by the Organizing Committee of the Congress.1 I intend to demonstrate here the great importance of contemporary logic for a satisfactory formulation and solution of central issues handed down to us by philosophical tradition. This paper will consist of two parts. In the first part, I will try to explain in general terms why the results of logic may be of use in solving philosophical — in particular, epistemological — problems. In the second part, I will give an example of such application of logic. I will show, namely that by using the concepts developed in modern logic the problem of transcendental idealism can be formulated precisely and solved in an elementary way.
