Abstract
We have compared velocity-longitude diagrams of bright, galactic HII regions and 1720 MHz OH clouds against diagrams predicted by the ballistic particle model. Independent of our model, both velocity longitude diagrams suggest the presence of spiral arms. In addition, our ballistic particle model produces velocity-longitude diagrams which resemble both observed ones. Our model assumes a two-arm spiral pattern and that the objects in question are seen less than 50 million years after their launching, at the post-shock velocity, from the TASS wave.
