The figure and moment of inertia of the Earth

  • Chapter
The Earth’s Density

Abstract

The present chapter is centrally concerned with the estimation of the Earth’s moment of inertia and a number of related quantities. As already stated, knowledge of the moment of inertia provides an important constraint on possible distributions of the density ρ inside the Earth.
