Abstract
Whereas the ESR spectra of oriented solids may be much more complicated than for liquids, they also contain additional useful information. One may hope to extract details of intra- and intermolecular interactions, molecular configuration, site symmetry, as well as the nature and the location of neighboring atoms. Further, one observes in rigid solids many paramagnetic species which are too reactive or too unstable to be observed in liquid solution.
