Abstract
We relate photochemical and non-photochemical (‘high-energy’) guenching of in vivo fluorescence and the redox state of P700 (as analyzed by far-red spectroscopy) to electron transport during steady state assimilation. From the data we derived expressions which provide a basis of conducting measurements of the apparent guantum yield and the rate of photosynthesis non-inva-sively and remotely, using optical approaches which do not reguire the enclosure of plants in measuring devices.
