Abstract

STRANGE is an interactive multiple criteria decision aid system taking into account uncertainties on objective functions and on constraints by using the techniques of stochastic linear programming. It has been mainly used for applications in the field of energy planning. The paper presents some of the published case studies applicable to nuclear and renewable energies. The paper also shows how extensions of the method towards non-linear functions and mixed integer variables increase the usefulness of the approach in real cases.
