Abstract
During the impulsive phase of many solar flares, expanding soft X-ray sources are observed in high resolution soft X-ray images of the flare loops. Identifying the precise nature of the expansion and its relation to blueshifted emissions is important in resolving the mechanism of energy transfer to the hot plasma in the impulsive phase.
