Abstract

We assume that the reader has had a course in calculus of several variables. The purpose of this chapter is therefore to establish the notation, to give a quick review of the theory with special emphasis on the geometric ideas, conceptual understanding and nontrivial examples. The reader may assume that the spaces are the Euclidean spaces ℝn if he finds it comfortable.
