Riassunto
Le moderne procedure diagnostiche ecografiche e di risonanza magnetica consentono di valutare le varie fasi dello sviluppo del torace e delle strutture polmonari e vascolari in esso comprese. Mentre dal punto di vista clinico l’ecografia permette il monitoraggio delle fasi più precoci della formazione dei sistemi respiratorio e cardiaco, la risonanza magnetica rivolge la sua attenzione, a partire di solito dalla 19a settimana di gestazione, a un sistema già formato nelle sue strutture principali. Pur essendo utilizzabile a partire da una fase avanzata, numerosi sono i mutamenti osservabili fino alla nascita. Le varie modalità di studio di cui la Risonanza Magnetica (RM) dispone consentono di fornire informazioni aggiuntive ed esclusive sull’evoluzione dello sviluppo polmonare, dei vasi e della gabbia toracica, non ottenibili con altre metodiche, a cui essa è complementare.
