Auszug
Als Supply Chain (SC) wird im engeren Sinne eine unternehmensübergreifende Wertschöpfungs- und Versorgungskette bezeichnet, in der rechtlich und wirtschaftlich unabhängige Unternehmen gemeinsam am Prozess der Leistungserbringung beteiligt sind: „A supply chain is two or more parties linked by a flow of goods, information and funds.“ Im Gegensatz zu dem Begriff Kette stellt sich die SC in der Praxis als ein Netzwerk von Organisationen dar, das alle an der Leistungserstellung beteiligten Unternehmen von der source of supply bis zum point of consumption einschließt (vgl. Abbildung 2).
