Zusammenfassung
Neben deskriptiven und explorativen Studien ist das kausale Design eine dritte Grundform von Studien, die in Marketing und Management große Bedeutung erlangt hat. Kausale Studien verfolgen das Ziel, Ursache-Wirkungs-Beziehungen zwischen Variablen zu analysieren. Demnach soll herausgefunden werden, ob eine Änderung einer unabhängigen Variablen ursächlich für eine Änderung einer abhängigen Variablen ist. Eine Möglichkeit zur empirischen Prüfung solcher Kausalzusammenhänge besteht in der Durchführung eines kontrollierten Experiments, eines Laborexperiments, bei dem der Forscher aktiv durch systematische Variation der unabhängigen Variablen in den untersuchten Prozess eingreift (Crano/Brewer 2002).
