Eine Strategische Erneuerung erfolgt durch den Abbau, Umbau und Aufbau von Positionen oder/und Potenzialen. Im Strategischen Management beschränkt sich das Denken traditionell auf den bestehenden Wettbewerb und bestehende Stärken und Schwächen des Unternehmens im Rahmen bekannter Denkweisen über die Kombination von Ressourcen zur Wertschöpfung und Nutzenstiftung bei den Kunden. Die Strategische Erneuerung erfolgt hier unter dem Verhalten des Advantage Seeking und unter Einbezug aller drei Stoßrichtungen, von Abbau über Umbau bis Aufbau. Der in diesem Kapitel vorgestellte Ansatz des Strategischen Entrepreneurship – die Strategische Erneuerung unter dem gleichzeitigen Verhalten des Opportunity Seeking – fokussiert besonders den Aufbau von neuen Positionen und Potenzialen. Hierbei werden Gelegenheiten zur Einführung von neuartigen Gütern, Dienstleistungen, Märkten oder/und Methoden entdeckt, bewertet und ausgenutzt. Die Strategische Erneuerung erfolgt mit Hilfe neuer Denkweisen über die Kombination von Ressourcen zur Wertschöpfung und Nutzenstiftung bei den Kunden. Für den Praktiker werden die Besonderheiten des Opportunity Seeking sowie die dafür notwendigen Maßnahmen im Unternehmen aufgezeigt.
