Zusammenfassung
Mathematisches Modellieren – ein immer noch recht junges Forschungsfeld im Bereich der nationalen und internationalen Mathematikdidaktik – ist eine Thematik, die mittlerweile im deutschsprachigen Raum fest in Lehr- und Rahmenplänen verankert ist und nun verpflichtender Bestandteil des Mathematikunterrichts sein sollte. Auf diese Weise kann den Lernenden eingehender als bisher verdeutlicht werden, dass Mathematik Anwendung im Leben findet, dass Mathematik kein starres Formelgebäude darstellt, sondern alltäglich, in fast allen Berufssparten genutzt wird. Schülerinnen und Schüler dafür zu sensibilisieren und zu Modellierungsaktivitäten anzuregen, sollte ein Ziel des Mathematikunterrichts ab der Grundschule sein.
