Zusammenfassung
Regelungssysteme für Motorradbremsen (ABS = Anti-Blockier-System) wurden erstmals 1988 von BMW für die Serie vorgestellt. Andere Motorradhersteller folgten nur zögerlich und erst Mitte des ersten Jahrzehnts dieses Jahrtausends ist ABS bei allen namhaften Motorradherstellern im Angebot. Antriebsschlupf-Regelungen (auch Traktionskontrolle genannt) sind trotz vorhandener Basistechnologien in den modernen Motorrädern noch sehr seltene Ausnahmen.
