Zusammenfassung
Während in der Medizin die Ursache und Entstehungsweise (Pathogenese) vieler Symptome mehrdeutig ist (z.B. Fieber), sind in der Psychiatrie darüber hinaus auch die meisten Syndrome pathogenetisch mehrdeutig. Zum Beispiel kann ein depressives Geschehen körperlich (Diabetes), körperlich-funktionell (z.B. Neurotransmitterstörung bei Psychosen), oder umweltbedingt (seelische Krise) begründbar sein. Dazu kommt, dass die Ursache und Entstehungsweise einiger wichtiger psychiatrischer Erkrankungen noch unklar ist. Das Zusammenspiel von Ursache, Auslöser und aufrechterhaltenden Faktoren psychischer Störungen hat aber wesentliche Bedeutung für die Diagnose und eine umfassende Therapie.
