Abstract
Behavioral geography, which developed on the border between geography and psychology, has produced a wealth of literature over the years on a multitude of topics (see for example Golledge and Timmermans 1990; Aitken 1991; Golledge and Stimson 1997). A full overview of the publications that have appeared in this field would go beyond the scope of the present report. Thus, in Section 3.2, we merely name a number of themes that are treated in behavioral geography, with the various types of stated preferences taking pride of place. Publications on spatial preferences that may be considered particularly important in the context of the objective of the present report are discussed separately in Section 3.3.
