Abstract
Everybody must some time or other have stood and watched an ant heap, which with all its hustle and bustle might have reminded him of a colony of honey-bees; and many will probably have seen a wasps’ nest in the roof of a barn; but I expect that only a few have ever had an opportunity of ferreting out the nest of a bumble-bee, which not even the expert eye can easily find.
