Thermodynamic Aspects of Cyclic and Monotone Plasticity

The Constitutive Law in Thermoplasticity

Part of the book series: CISM International Centre for Mechanical Sciences ((CISM,volume 281))

Abstract

Consider a small element of plastically strained metal whose elastic-plastic properties are the same at every particle (at least in statistical sense) and at every instant of a process (homogeneous process). To develop the general frame for entirely phenomenological description of its behaviour we shall regard the element as a closed and chemically inert thermodynamical system, and use the modified concepts of classical thermostatics, despite of incompletely resolved controversy as to correctness of such procedure.
