Zusammenfassung
Bisher gibt es keine Soziologie der Beratung, auf die eine sozialwissenschaftliche Beratungsforschung zurückgreifen könnte. Daraus leiten sich zwei forschungsstrategische Vorgehensweisen für eine empirische sozialwissenschaftliche Beratungsforschung ab: Erstens könnten aus der Beobachtung und Analyse von Beratungsprozessen Hypothesen generiert und anhand der Analyse weiterer Beratungsprozesse überprüft werden. Nachteil dieser Vorgehensweise ist die fehlende Fundierung dieser Hypothesen in soziologischen Theorien. Zweitens könnten verschiedene soziologische Theorien ausgewählt werden, die sich für die Analyse von Beratungsprozessen eignen. Diese Theorien müßten für die Berater-Klient-Interaktion spezifiziert werden. Es müßten theoriebasiert Hypothesen abgeleitet werden, die man anschließend durch Beobachtung und Analyse von Beratungssituationen überprüfen könnte.
