Zusammenfassung
Im Diskurs um die Bedeutung von Wissenschaft und Technologie für die Gesellschaft ist der Begriff des ‚Experten‘ nicht nur positiv besetzt (z.B. Bauman 1992; Beck 1986). Es ist eine Abnahme des Vertrauens in die Gültigkeit der Urteile und Ratschläge von Experten zu beobachten. In vielen gesellschaftlichen Bereichen gibt es Indizien für einen solchen Vertrauensschwund. Beispiele dafür sind die zunehmend kritische Haltung von Patienten gegenüber den Krankheitsdeutungen und Therapieempfehlungen von Ärzten, die sehr kontroverse Beurteilung vieler Expertenmeinungen im Bereich der Atomkraftnutzung oder die Diskussion in der Öffentlichkeit um Expertenberechnungen zur Zukunft unserer Sozialversicherungssysteme.
