Zusammenfassung
Allgemein läßt sich zum internationalen Stand der Professionssoziologie sagen: Ihre große Zeit waren die 60er und 70er Jahre mit der Debatte um angemessene Analysemodelle. Die letzten 10 Jahre sind eine Art Konsolidierungsphase, charakterisiert hauptsächlich durch Forschungen zum Autonomieproblem, nicht zuletzt in Verbindung mit dem Wissensproblem. Trotz verschiedener Anläufe mangelt es immer noch an theoretisch orientierter historisch und international vergleichender Forschung (vgl. Rüschemeyer 1986).
