Zusammenfassung
Adoleszente und junge Frauen mit Typ-1-Diabetes mellitus zeigen eine überzufällige Koinzidenz mit gestörtem Essverhalten und Essstörungen, vornehmlich der Bulimia nervosa. Die Komorbidität sowohl von gestörtem Essverhalten als auch einer Essstörung und einem Typ-1-Diabetes stellt einen Risikofaktor für die Entwicklung späterer diabetischer Folgeerkrankungen dar.
Die Binge-Eating-Störung ist insbesondere bei Übergewicht und Adipositas zu beobachten. Die Frage, ob die Binge-Eating-Störung bei Menschen mit Typ-2-Diabetes im Vergleich zu stoffwechselgesunden Menschen häufiger auftritt, lässt sich aufgrund einer uneinheitlichen Studienlage nicht sicher beantworten. Allerdings stellt die BES einen Risikofaktor für die Entwicklung einer Insulinresistenz und eines Typ-2-Diabetes dar.
