Zusammenfassung
Mikroorganismen sind in der Bioökonomie an der Herstellung und Erschließung von Rohstoffen, an deren Umsetzung zu Produkten und an der Rezyklierung von Nebenprodukten und Abfällen beteiligt. Mikrobielle Verfahren spielen damit in der Bioökonomie eine zentrale Rolle. Wichtige Produkte sind Lebens- und Futtermittelzusatzstoffe, Chemikalien und Pharmaka, Treibstoffe und Bioenergie. Mit dem fortschreitenden Rohstoffwandel wird die wirtschaftliche Bedeutung von Mikroorganismen in der industriellen Produktion zunehmen. Diese Entwicklung wird auch durch das erhebliche Innovationspotenzial getrieben.
