Zusammenfassung
Wir beginnen dieses Kapitel mit der Beschreibung von genomweiten Assoziationsstudien, die seit einigen Jahren eingesetzt werden, um einen Zusammenhang zwischen Genotypen und Phänotypen herzustellen. Diese Methode ist verwandt mit der QTL-Analyse und wird gegenwärtig zusätzlich zu dieser eingesetzt oder auch alleine angewendet. Die Selektion spielt bei diesem Verfahren keine Rolle. Anschließend untersuchen wir aber, ob die gefundenen Assoziationen in natürlichen Populationen durch Selektion verursacht worden sind und die Adaptation von Organismen an ihre Umwelt beeinflussen. Der Fokus dieses Kapitels liegt dabei auf der Adaptation von quantitativen Merkmalen mit polygener Basis.
