Zusammenfassung
Mit der Titelüberschrift »Artificial Intelligence equal to experts in detecting eye diseases« wird eine digitale Zukunft in Szene gesetzt, die bereits in Teilen Einzug in die Medizin gehalten hat. Hierbei wird insbesondere die Augenheilkunde als Speerspitze der Entwicklung gesehen. Warum das so ist und wo die Vorteile der teilweise revolutionären Entwicklungen liegen werden, wird in diesem Kapitel kurz dargestellt. Digitalisierung in der Diagnostik und Therapie, insbesondere auch in den Organisationsabläufen
sind nur eine Seite der Entwicklung, die bereits in voll in Gang ist. Schon jetzt und insbesondere in Zukunft wird der Augenarzt
aber in seinem Beruf sehr viel stärker auch mit Herausforderungen der digitalen Diagnostik, Differenzialdiagnose und Therapieentscheidung konfrontiert sein.
