Zusammenfassung
Das Magenkarzinom ist eine der häufigsten Tumorarten in Deutschland. Bis zu einem Drittel der Patienten hat zum Diagnosezeitpunkt bereits Fernmetatastasen. Diese Patienten sind daher aktuell nicht mehr als kurativ zu behandelnd anzusehen, wenngleich Untersuchungen gezeigt haben, dass sie von einer nicht kurativen Resektion profitieren. Die palliative Resektion sollte von der nicht kurativen unterschieden werden, da sie das Ziel hat, Symptomfreiheit oder zumindest Symptomkontrolle zu erreichen. Dieser Therapieansatz ist insbesondere bei der Tumorstenose, der Tumorblutung, der Peroration oder dem malignen Aszites vordergründig. In diesem Kapitel werden Daten und die Indikationen zur nicht kurativen sowie zur palliativen Resektion dargelegt.
