Zusammenfassung
Die maschinelle Beatmung des Intensivpatienten ist eine Überdruckbeatmung. Die Druckerhöhung wird vom Beatmungsgerät erzeugt, die Exspiration ist ein passiver Vorgang. Die anschließende Inspiration wird entweder vom Gerät gesteuert (Maschinentriggerung) oder durch einen Sog des Patienten ausgelöst (Patiententriggerung). Der Respirator kontrolliert während der Inspiration entweder den Druck oder das Volumen; entsprechend ist die Beatmung druck- oder volumenkontrolliert. Die Inspiration wird entweder durch das Gerät (Maschinensteuerung) oder durch den Patienten beendet (Patientensteuerung). Vereinfacht werden 5 Beatmungsmodi unterschieden: volumenkontrollierte kontinuierliche oder intermittierende mandatorische Beatmung, druckkontrollierte kontinuierliche oder intermittierende mandatorische Beatmung und die druckkontrollierte kontinuierliche Spontanatmung.
