Zusammenfassung
Die numerische Modellierung spanender Bearbeitungsprozesse mit der Methode der finiten Elemente (FEM) wird seit einigen Jahren angewendet und hat bereits zu ersten vielversprechenden Ergebnissen in der Modellierung der Zerspanprozesse geführt. Die Verwendung numerischer Modelle zur Simulation des Zerspanprozesses ermöglicht neben der gleichzeitigen Berücksichtigung von plasto-mechanischen und thermischen Vorgängen die Abbildung komplex geformter Werkzeuge auf den Zerspanprozess. Neben der FEM können wahlweise analytische und empirische Prozessmodelle herangezogen werden, welche die schnelle Abbildung des Prozesses zum Vorteil haben. Empirische Modelle sind in ihrer Anwendbarkeit begrenzt: Sie werden in der Regel nur für die Gültigkeit eines limitierten Prozessraums kalibriert. Analytische Modelle eignen sich auf Grund der vereinfachten Modellvorstellung nur bedingt zur Beschreibung von komplexen Prozessvorgängen, wie es beispielsweise die FEM erlaubt. Bei der FEM handelt es sich um ein numerisches Verfahren zur näherungsweisen Lösung von kontinuierlichen Feldproblemen. Ursprünglich wurde sie zur Lösung von Spannungsproblemen in der Strukturmechanik entwickelt, ist aber sehr bald auf das große Anwendungsgebiet der Kontinuumsmechanik ausgedehnt worden [Bett03].
