Zusammenfassung

Das Fibromyalgiesyndrom ist ein chronisches Schmerzsyndrom, das charakterisiert ist durch eher diffuse Schmerzen des Muskelapparats und des Skelettes in mehreren Körperregionen. Als Begleitsymptome werden Morgensteifigkeit, Müdigkeit, Schlafstörungen und häufig eine depressive Stimmungslage angegeben. Häufiger sind Frauen als Männer betroffen. Die Pathophysiologie ist nach wie vor nicht geklärt. In der Pathogenese ist eine Veränderung der zentralen Schmerzwahrnehmung von großer Relevanz. Der Beitrag beinhaltet alte und neue Klassifikationskriterien und beschreibt therapeutische Ansätze.
