Zusammenfassung
Prototyping ist eine zentrale Aktivität im Prozess der Gestaltung interaktiver Produkte. Prototypen dienen hierbei sowohl als Mittel der Exploration, der Demonstration und der Evaluation (▶ Kasten „Drei verschiedene Rollen von Prototypen“). Die in diesem Buch beschriebene Erlebnisperspektive auf interaktive Produkte, also eine erweiterte Sicht, welche nicht nur die Funktion (Was), Form und Interaktion (Wie), sondern auch die hierdurch vermittelten Erlebnisse (Warum) berücksichtigt, stellt neue Herausforderungen an das Prototyping. Wie auch in der Gestaltung interaktiver Produkte allgemein lag der Fokus beim Einsatz von Prototypen in Praxis und Forschung lange Zeit auf Fragen der Gebrauchstauglichkeit (z. B. McCurdy et al. 2006; Virzi et al. 1996; Walker et al. 2002). Die Frage, wie sich Erlebnisse durch Prototypen darstellen lassen, wird zwar bereits schon länger diskutiert (z. B. Buchenau und Suri 2000), insgesamt sind jedoch Ansätze des Erlebnisprototypings und deren spezifische Konsequenzen noch wenig beforscht.
