Zusammenfassung
Distributionspolitische Entscheidungen sind im internationalen Marketing in zweierlei Hinsicht von besonderer Bedeutung: Einerseits hängt der Erfolg international tätiger Unternehmen wesentlich von der Leistungsfähigkeit der Distributionssysteme ab, mit deren Hilfe die angebotenen Produkte zum Endabnehmer in den jeweiligen Ländern gelangen; mittels einer effizienten Distribution kann ein strategischer Wettbewerbsvorteil geschaffen werden, welcher oftmals von dauerhafterer Natur ist als beispielsweise Wettbewerbsvorsprünge aufgrund von Produktionskosten vorteilen. Andererseits hat die Mehrzahl von Entscheidungen in diesem Bereich langfristig bindenden Charakter; Fehlentscheidungen können daher aufgrund ihrer nur geringen bzw. unmittelbar nicht vorhandenen Revidierbarkeit zu besonders schwerwiegenden Folgen führen.
