Zusammenfassung
Das Dualsystem der Eisen-Kohlenstoff-Legierungen zwingt uns die Frage auf nach dem molekularen Aufbau der flüssigen bzw. festen Lösungen des Kohlenstoffs im Eisen, über den die Phasenregel bekanntlich keinen Aufschluß gibt. Schott P. Goerens (141) behandelte unter Auswertung des Gesetzes der molekularen Gefrierpunktserniedrigung (nach Raoult bzw. van’t Hoff) die Frage, ob der Kohlenstoff sich als solcher oder als Karbid im flüssigen Eisen in Lösung befinde. Aber selbst die für verdünnte Lösungen gültige Rothmundsche Formel:
M = Molekulargewicht des gelösten Körpers, t 0= Schmelzpunkt des reinen Metalls, t 1 = Bezugstemperatur, c 1 bzw. c 2 = Konzentrationen der Liquidus-bzw. Solidusphase bei der Temperatur t 1, E = molekulare Gefrierpunktserniedrigung des Lösungsmittels erwies sich im vorliegenden Falle als nicht anwendbar, da z. B. eine noch als verdünnt zu bezeichnende Lösung von 1% Kohlenstoff im Eisen einer etwa 15 proz. Karbidlösung entspricht, letztere aber nicht mehr als verdünnt im Sinne des vorliegenden Gesetzes anzusprechen ist. Aus der Tatsache, daß derartige Rechnungen unter Zugrundelegung des erwähnten Gesetzes sich mit dem Ergebnis der thermischen Analyse auch nicht annähernd deckten, schloß P. Goerens, daß offenbar die Lösung für seine Berechnungen zu konzentriert war, d. h. den Kohlenstoff vorwiegend als Karbid gelöst enthielt.
