Zusammenfassung
Unter Korrosion versteht man die von der Oberfläche ausgehende unbeabsichtigte Zerstörung metallischer (oder nichtmetallischer) Stoffe in wässerigen, säure-, alkali- oder salzhaltigen Lösungen bzw. Schmelzen, in bestimmten Gasen oder unter dem Einfluß der Atmosphäre. Die Zerstörungen treten auf entweder in der Form eines gleichmäßigen Angriffs über eine große Fläche oder aber in der Form örtlicher, oft punktförmiger Anfressungen („pittings“).
