Zusammenfassung
Die Multiple Sklerose (MS) wurde in der zweiten Hälfte des vorigen Jahrhunderts von dem großen französischen Neurologen Charcot beschrieben. Wenn er in dem Pariser Armenkrankenhaus La Salpétrière Visite machte, fiel ihm auf, daß manche Patienten, wenn sie ihn seitwärts anblickten, einen Nystagmus bekamen. Wenn sie ihm die Hand reichten, zeigten sie einen Intentionstremor, und ihre Sprechweise legte auf jede Silbe eine „skandierende“ Betonung. Diese Symptomkombination wurde später als Charcot-Trias bekannt.
