Zusammenfassung
Die Verfahrenstechnik beschäftigt sich vor allem mit der Trennung von Stoffgemischen. Thermische Trennvorgänge werden durch gestörte Stoffgleichgewichte ausgelöst. Die thermische Verfahrenstechnik ist ein altes und bedeutendes Gebiet der Verfahrenstechnik. Daneben gibt es die mechanische, chemische, biologische und biomedizinische Verfahrenstechnik. Die beiden zuletzt genannten Gebiete befinden sich erst im Stadium der Entwicklung.
