Zusammenfassung
Der Begriff der Klassifikation wird in der Literatur recht unterschiedlich gebraucht. Wir wollen die damit zusammenhängenden Fragen hier nicht diskutieren und stattdessen auf Krauth (1983) verweisen. Mit Klassifikation meinen wir die Zuweisung eines Individuums zu einer von mindestens 2 Klassen/Gruppen anhand verschiedener Merkmale bzw. Merkmalsausprägungen (vgl. Janke 1982). Schmerzklassifikationssysteme sind somit Gliederungen bzw. Anordnungen verschiedener Schmerzsyndrome mit dem Versuch einer zusammenhängenden und in ihrem Aufbau logischen Darstellung. Da die vorhandenen Schmerzklassifikationssysteme ausnahmslos a priori entwickelt wurden, ist ihre empirische Relevanz eingeschränkt. Entsprechend der traditionsgebundenen Sichtweise in der Organmedizin werden Schmerzpatienten oft danach unterschieden, ob für ihren Schmerz physiologische (akut oder streßbedingt), pathogene (krankheits-oder durch Verletzungen bedingt) und/oder psychische Erklärungen angemessen sind.
