Zusammenfassung
Aneurysmen sind umschriebene Ausstülpungen der Arterienwand, die meist sackförmig, gelegentlich zylindrisch sind. Sie sind oft nur stecknadelkopfgroß, können aber auch die Größe eines Apfels erreichen. Manche Aneurysmen sitzen gestielt, andere breitbasig an der Gefäßwand. Sie finden sich ganz überwiegend am Circulus arteriosus Willisii, seltener aber auch in distalen Abschnitten der A. cerebri media. In der Reihenfolge der Häufigkeit kommen folgende Lokalisationen vor (s. Abb. 6.1):

A. cerebri media,

A. carotis interna (meist suprasellär, seltener infrasellär, d.h. extradural),
-
A. communicans post.,
-
A. basilaris und vertebralis.
