Zusammenfassung
Raumbezogene Informationssysteme speichern eine ungeheuer große Zahl unterschiedlicher Informationen. Um dieser Fülle von Informationen Herr zu werden, müssen wir sie strukturieren. Wir benützen dazu zwei Strategien, die einander entgegengesetzt sind: einerseits teilen wir die Informationen in ihre Bestandteile auf und klassifizieren diese entsprechend; diesen Vorgang bezeichnen wir als Analyse. Andererseits formen wir aber auch aus einzelnen Teilen komplexe Gebilde (Synthese).
