Abstract
This chapter is devoted to the presentation of the coupling of large-eddy simulation with multiresolution and/or multidomain approaches. The main purpose of these couplings is to decrease the computational cost of the large-eddy simulations by clustering the degrees of freedom in regions of interest. The key idea is to adapt locally the cutoff length scale of the simulation, i. e. to refine the computational grid.1 This grid refinement is associated with the definition of different subdomains with varying resolution.2
