Abstract
In order to save time, reduce costs and increase quality of development and planning processes, all kinds of new organizational structures, new design methodologies and new information and communication systems are recommended to be introduced into the companies. On the basis of empirical research, however, it can be shown that the main barrier against any optimization of new product creation processes occurs because of deficits in the knowledge transfer during the processes. Only when this barrier is overcome by deployment of a comprehensive knowledge management strategy will the new concepts be successful in improving development and planning processes.
