Abstract

Our students who had to take several courses in sedimentology during their four and half years of study, were required to take one examination on this subject, usually a 10-minute oral by an examinator, who was usually the chairman of the department. Our university had retained the traditional educational system of Europe, derived from a time when professors knew his few students and examinations were a formality. Occasionally, when the ordinary examinator was on leave, I was privileged to give the examination. The students would come to me and ask how they should prepare for their sedimentology test.
