Place for Development: Adolescents, Leisure Settings, and Developmental Tasks

  • Chapter
Development as Action in Context

Abstract

Recent research on adolescent development has increasingly stressed the importance of the adolescents’ acting in age-related change of experience and behavior. Adolescents often organize their own development by arranging personal determinants and outer contexts according to their own ideas.

This research was supported in part by a grant (“Akademiestipendium”) from the German Research Council (DFG: Si 296/2–1) to R. K. Silbereisen. The Berlin Longitudinal Study on Adolescent Development is supported by grants from the German Research Council (DFG: Si 296/1–1, 2, 3, 4; principal investigators R. K. Silbereisen and K. Eyferth).
