Zusammenfassung
In der Mechanik haben wir Quer- und Längswellen unterscheiden gelernt. Die Abb. 275 gibt als Beispiel zwei „Momentbilder“. Das obere zeigt eine Querwelle, z. B. längs eines Seiles. Man sieht Wellenberge und -täler. Das untere Momentbild zeigt eine Längswelle, z. B. eine Schallwelle in einem Rohr. Man sieht Verdichtungen und Verdünnungenl1. — Eine Längswelle zeigt um ihre Laufrichtung herum ein allseitig gleiches Verhalten, eine Querwelle hingegen kann eine ausgesprochene „Einseitigkeit“ besitzen. Sie kann, wie in Abb. 275 oben, „linear polarisiert“ sein. Das soll näher ausgeführt werden.
