Abstract

The previous chapters presented an analysis of the Chinese global governance discourse with a particular focus on NGOs and an embedded case study of Chinese NGOs going global against the background of the discourse analysis results. As outlined in the research design for this book, the next step is first to relate and compare the results of the empirical investigations with each other. Subsequently, the results will be analyzed and interpreted against the perspectives on NGO involvement in the global governance framework. The analysis in this chapter works with three steps to evaluate and discuss the results of the empirical investigations. First, it compares the results of the discourse analysis and case study and identifies their relations; second, it analyzes and discusses the empirical results against the background of the perspectives on NGOs in the global governance framework; and third, it summarizes all results from the empirical investigations and the analysis to develop a typology of NGOs in China’s foreign policy and to classify the NGOs in the case study according to the research results as summarized in the typology.
