Zusammenfassung
Schweißen ist ein Fügeprozess, bei dem zwei oder mehr Teile miteinander zu einem Kontinuum verbunden werden. Dabei werden die zu verbindenden Werkstoffe unter Anwendung von Wärme oder Kraft oder beides und mit oder ohne Schweißzusatzwerkstoff hergestellt. Schweißen kann auch zum Beschichten und zum Wiederaufschmelzen benutzt werden. DIN 1910-100 definiert diese und weitere Grundbegriffe zum Schweißen.
