Zusammenfassung
Die Thermodynamik befasst sich mit der Energieumwandlung und -übertragung, soweit jene Energieform beteiligt ist, die gemeinhin mit „Wärme“ bezeichnet wird; daneben werden damit zusammenhängende Stoffeigenschaften erfasst. Der Begriff der Wärme hat allerdings in den letzten Jahrzehnten einen Bedeutungswandel erlebt. Was in der geschichtlichen Entwicklung der klassischen Naturwissenschaften als Wärme bezeichnet wurde, wird heute weitgehend durch den Begriff der „inneren Energie“ beschrieben.
