Zusammenfassung
Der Beitrag behandelt die Etablierung einer Methode zur Erforschung des Anstaltsklimas in Deutschland und der Schweiz. Diese Methode – Measuring the Quality of Prison Life (MQPL+)/Messung der Lebensqualität im Vollzug - wurde am Prisons Research Centre der Universität Cambridge für den englischen Strafvollzug entwickelt. Sie kombiniert qualitative (Interviews, Gruppendiskussionen und Beobachtung) mit quantitativen Methoden (standardisierte Fragebögen) und umfasst auch einen bestimmten zeitlichen Ablauf. Dieser Ansatz soll für den Strafvollzug in Deutschland und der Schweiz adaptiert werden. Zunächst wird die Methode vor dem Hintergrund der Forschung zum Anstaltsklima erläutert. Es folgen Überlegungen zur Übersetzung von Fragebögen und eigene Erfahrungen mit der Übersetzung der MQPL+-Fragebögen. Abschließend wird von einem Pretest berichtet, mit dem die MQPL+-Methoden in einer deutschen Justizvollzugsanstalt erprobt wurden.
