Zusammenfassung
Pulvermetallurgie (PM) befasst sich mit der Herstellung von Metallpulvern und Bauteilen daraus. PM gehört damit zum Fertigungsbereich Urformen. Die Begriffe sind nach DIN EN ISO 3252/01 genormt. Im Unterschied zum Gießen ist der Materiezustand beim Formen fest (evtl. teilflüssig beim Sintern mit flüssiger Phase). Deshalb sind PM-Teile i. A. porös. Die Porosität ist vom Pressverlauf abhängig, beginnt mit 30% und kann durch Sinterschmieden oder Tränken auf null gebracht werden. Mit der Dichte steigen Festigkeit und Zähigkeit.
